We want to thank the best gingerbread baking crew for their performances today of "The Gingerbread Caper". 🎄 They did such a good job with their lines and singing.
We hope you all have a great weekend!

Last week we had the opportunity to recognize two of our amazing teachers. Mrs. Andes received a RISE award from a parent and Miss Heinrich received an award for her achievement in completing the "STEM For Every Classroom" course. We are so lucky to have such wonderful teachers at Highland.

Coming up at the end of this week is the 1st Grade musical story of "The Gingerbread Caper". Parents of 1st grade students are invited to attend a performance at 1PM.
We will have regular before and after school activities this week of Botball, Chess, LEGO Robotics, as well as a Stand 4 Kind team meeting.
For our spirit Fridays in December, students can choose to wear a favorite holiday shirt in addition to a Highland shirt. Next week we will have dress up days every day of the week....look ahead to know what days are coming.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....in addition to the snow we've been seeing signs of Christmas popping up all over the school. We hope you have a wonderful weekend getting in the holiday mood.

The first snow of the season is always the best! Kids have enjoyed playing in it as much as they can today. Mr. Killpack even got a little bit of snow time this morning.

Our food drive wraps up tomorrow and our bins are fairly empty. Please consider sending in something with your student tomorrow if you can. We'd sure love to send Tabitha's Way full bins for those in need.

Did you know...every week we have Late Bus Wednesdays . Due to the secondary (middle, jr, and high) school adjusted Wednesday schedule, it delays our buses. The NASA bus is usually fairly on time, but the Gryffindor and Lumiere buses are between 7-15 minutes late on an average Wednesday. They could be even later on snowy or icy Wednesdays. Please plan for these adjusted times for your bus students' arrival time home on Wednesdays.
Want to know where your students bus is in real time - consider downloading the stop finder app. This app allows you to see updates on your student's bus and see which stop they are at. This could become very helpful as we approach the days of more inclement weather. If you can't find your family's email invitation for access, you can call the transportation office or call us at the school and we can help.

There will be No December PTA meeting tomorrow. Instead, we ask that you think about serving on a committee or in a board position next school year. If you, or someone you know, would be a great asset to the PTA leadership - please nominate them. You can fill out a nomination form and place it in the box in the office or reach out to the front office by phone or email.
Thanks for helping support our school and the many programs the PTA sponsors.

Welcome back! We hope you have had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break.
We have the opportunity this week to participate in a food drive for Tabitha's Way. This is our pre-planned food drive and we are continuing with it as we know there is always a great need near the holidays. Thanks to those of you that participated in both our previous urgent need food drive and are participating in this one as well. Food containers will be located in the main vestibule near the office.
As a reminder, now that cold weather has arrived, we go outside in the mornings and at recess times unless the weather is below twenty degrees, the precipitation is heavy, or there are unsafe conditions. We post on the marquee in bright red on the mornings we will be inside. There are also inside morning signs by the main entry door for students to see. Please ensure your students have the appropriate winter gear for playing outside: warm jacket/coat, good shoes/boots, and even gloves/mittens.
Other events that will resume this week include Botball, Chess, and LEGO Robotics. We will also have our weekly Spirit Day on Friday.

We have just a short two day school week and then it's Thanksgiving Break. As we had into the Thanksgiving Holiday, we want to take this opportunity to let you know just how thankful we are for all of you in our Highland community. Thanks for all you do to support us and make Highland such a great school.

What a great way to end this Connection week and head into Thanksgiving week - with a renewed focus on gratitude. It's fun to stop and read some of the things our students are thankful for hanging on each of these leaves.

Tomorrow is our final dress up day. Show your school spirit and Connect with Our School by wearing your favorite Highland t-shirt or hoodie. Teachers will be passing out friendship bracelets to each class to celebrate that we are all friends at Highland.
It is also our final day for the coat drive. Please drop off new and gently used coats and jackets at the school office. Thanks for helping us support those in need of extra warmth this winter.

What do you want to be when you grow up? What is your favorite college sports team? Tomorrow is Connect to Your Future. Wear your favorite college team jersey or dress up in something that shows what profession you want to have when you grow up. Please remember that all dress up outfits must still meet school dress code and students must have good athletic shoes for PE and recess.
As a side note - tomorrow's weather forecast has some rain and colder temps, be prepared and bring a jacket or coat for outside play. If your child is missing a coat or jacket it's probably in our lost and found - we have many items that get left on the playground each day.
