We want to wish a Happy Educational Support Professionals Week to our wonderful support staff. Without each of these amazing people we'd be lost on the playground, looking for pencils, confused by math, and surrounded by missing work! They help our teachers with essential tasks, support student learning, and keep everyone safe. We are so thankful for each of you!

Birthdays are such a fun days at school. We have had some confusion about birthday visits, treats, and more. Please help us out by following these guidelines:

If coming to share a birthday lunch, you must have a background check.

Please do not send home party invitations from school; we don’t want students being sad for not being included.

Treats/food items must be store bought and enough for the entire class.

Please coordinate treat times with your child’s teacher.

We cannot accept balloons or large gifts as they are too much of a class distraction and they cannot go on the buses.

If you have any questions, please call the office.

This coming week is Connection Week. Looking forward to fun dress up days and ways to connect with community, family, and more. Check out the daily dress ups listed in the weekly calendar.

Tomorrow (Monday) is HAT DAY. Wear your favorite hat to school.

As part of connecting to community, we are hosting a coat drive. New and gently used coats/jackets can be dropped off at the vestibule container or in the office.

This week will also be our school spirit night at Classic Skating (Connect to Family on Wednesday). We will have our traditional photo on the rink at 5:30pm. Please be on the rink side right on time as they don't announce the picture on the game side of the venue.

Check out the other Friday events: 3rd Grade Market Day and 6th Grade Space Center. Teachers will send home more information about these events to their individual classes.

Call the office if you have any questions.

Highland Week Ahead

We will start this week by honoring our Veterans on Tuesday the 11th. Miss Louw's class will perform their annual service project of placing flags on each Veteran's grave in the city cemetery behind the school.

The 2nd Knowledge Bowl interest meeting will be held on Tuesday after school. It is not required to have attended the first meeting. This meeting is for all interested 3rd-6th grade students and their parents. We will discuss the Knowledge Bowl program, expectations, and how you can be involved.

We'll end this week on a very busy Friday with Picture Retakes, Reflections Awards, and our regular school spirit day.

Looking ahead - next week will be Connection Week. We will have a fun week with dress-up days and more. One important thing we are doing during that week is a coat drive. You can start looking now for new and gently used coats/jackets to donate.

It's going to be a great week.

We would like to give a high-5 to our parents that helped at our Halloween parties. We appreciate you taking the time to get your background check and being prepared to help.

As a quick refresher for parties: - All volunteers must be background checked & All treats must be store bought.

We have lots of fun activities and parties coming up in December. We know teachers will be asking for volunteers. If you want to be involved, please plan now to get your background check completed. It must be done at least two weeks in advance of any event you plan to attend. Any volunteer helping at the school must be background checked.
