We are looking forward to welcoming our Kindergarten students on their first day on Tuesday. Specialties Begin (please wear good athletic shoes for PE). Don't forget our Spirit Days are every Friday this year. Wear your favorite Highland school shirt to show your school spirit.

If you drive by the school and see the marquee, you'll see it's gotten stuck in it's own little version of Groundhog Day and has reverted to messages from February. Technology teams are working on it, but we aren't sure when the Groundhog Day loop will end and new info will reappear. Thanks for laughing with us and being patient as they work out the kinks.

As we head back to school tomorrow, take some time to review the Highland Handbook. There have been some new laws passes by the state legislature and some clarifications from the district. These are detailed in the dress code and electronic communication device pages. We'd also like you to take note of the drop-off areas. With the back drop-off still under construction there will be increased traffic in our front drop-off areas.

Back to School Checklist: Last Day of Summer

We hope you have lots of fun plans for the day - followed by an early school night bedtime. Tomorrow's the day - School Starts!!

A couple of important reminders for tomorrow:

- Please be courteous as you are coming to the school. Be alert and aware of students and help us keep them safe.
- If you want to stop and take pictures please park in a parking lot stall.
- Always pull forward in pick-up/drop-off areas to help traffic flows.
- Do not park in the bus zone.
- Gates to the playground are locked during school hours.
- Parents/Visitors must enter through the main office.
- Breakfast begins at 7:30am and ends at 7:55am
- Students will remain outside until the first bell rings at 7:55am (we are always outside in the morning unless the temperature is below 20 or there is active precipitation). Students may cross to the back playground area thru the main front doors.

Most importantly - be prepared to have fun as school begins! We are looking forward to a great first day tomorrow.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: As the new school year begins, please be aware that there will be a lot of additional traffic around our school properties, especially during drop-off and pick-up times. This will be particularly noticeable during the first few weeks of school as we welcome students and as families settle into routines. Please be extremely patient, and remember to put the safety of all students first.

We love our parent volunteers!! Our classrooms and our school events wouldn't be the same without you. We follow the district guidelines for volunteers - all volunteers are required to be fingerprinted and have a background check. If you are new to the school or haven't volunteered before, please make sure to complete this. Scheduling now ensures you'll be ready to volunteer when school starts.

Parents need to log in and complete the Student Annual Information Update in Skyward.

We apologize that some student accounts were disabled a few days earlier than we anticipated.

You can unlock your student's account by logging into Skyward as a parent (not as a student) and completing the Student Annual Information Update.

Skyward Login: skyward.alpinedistrict.org

The update must be done on a computer, not a mobile device. It may take several hours after the update to for accounts to be fully available.

Ever wonder what happens at the school during the summer? Our custodial crew does a lot! They deep clean classrooms, clean the carpets, replace lights, wax the hall floors, and maintain equipment, playgrounds, grounds and more. This summer we're also getting new kitchen equipment and flooring, the second half of our HVAC upgrade, and new network wiring. We are thankful to have such a great custodial staff and for the district making all of this possible.
