The first day of kindergarten is a BIG milestone for kids AND parents. To make the day a little easier for parents they are hosting Kleenex and Cookies tomorrow morning.
Drop off your students and head over to the lunchroom to get a cookie and learn about some of the ways you can get involved at the school and with the PTA.

As an important reminder to help keep our students safe, please review the pick-up and drop-off areas and safety rules. We are also including the student meeting spots; we use these meeting spots specifically so siblings and younger students know where to meet each other after school.

It's an exciting day at Highland! Due to exceptional growth at our school, we received another teacher for our 1st grade classes. We are happy to introduce you to Mrs. McEwen. To many of you she may be a familiar face as she has been working with out 1st grade team previously as a substitute and with our Highland PTA. In the next couple of weeks,, access to the school may be impacted my some road work being done by Highland City.
Highland City will be placing a SuperMod chip seal along 6000 West between SR-92 and 11800 North, and 9600 North from Alpine Highway to 6800 West. Work will be done on 9600 North on August 5 and on 6000 West on August 6. A top coat will be applied to both roads on August 10.
The City is having the work done as opposed to other construction methods to minimize required closures. To accomplish this, crews will be placing a rolling closure as the work is done. We intend to limit disruptions as much as possible although we do appreciate residents being affected for your patience!

This modern platform provides an improved experience for students, parents, and guardians with enhanced functionality, easier access to information, and a more streamlined way to manage student records.

We are looking forward to the transition to the upgraded version of Skyward known as Skyward Q. With this transition, the district will be temporarily closing down access to Skyward from July 17-July 27. If you have a new neighbor or know someone with a kindergarten or new student coming to Highland this year - please help spread the word that enrollments must be completed by this Friday the 17th or they will not be able to be started until the 27th. If you have any questions you can call on Wednesdays during open office hours 8am-Noon. Thank you for helping us get the word out.

As Independence Day and Pioneer Day celebrations approach, Alpine School District and Highland Elementary reminds community members that fireworks are prohibited on all school district property. With elevated wildfire risk across Utah this summer because of drought conditions, Highland City has also enacted a fireworks ban within city limits for the 4th of July weekend. We encourage everyone to celebrate responsibly and help protect our schools, neighborhoods, and surrounding open spaces from preventable fires by following these guidelines.
In conjunction with Mrs. Chadwick’s Summer Bingo, we invite families at Highland Elementary to participate in our Summer Reading Challenge.
Your challenge is to tell us about a favorite book you are reading! Send us a picture of you with the book, tell us what you love about it, and we will feature you and your book choice on the school marquee! Each student that participates will receive a Summer Reading completion certificate and prize at back-to-school night.

Our office is open today and each Wednesday during the summer. Hours are 8AM to Noon (with the exception of June 10th when we will close at 11:15AM). Give us a call or stop in if you have questions or need assistance.
There were some late requests for yearbooks. We can place an additional order if we get a minimum of 5 orders. If you did not get a yearbook but are interested in ordering one now, please email jenniferharding@alpinedistrict.org. If we have enough interest we will proceed with ordering additional copies.
